Rosvaenge and Schlusnus in Verdi
Helge Rosvaenge and Heinrich Schlusnus
Arias and Duets by Verdi
Opera Arias and Scenes
Helge Rosvaenge, tenor
Broadcast recordings 1941-1943
Rosvaenge recorded exclusively for Electrola and Heinrich Schlusnus for Grammophon. The two of them had made only one duet record for Grammophon (in 1933 before Rosvaenge had signed with Electrola): an abridged version of the great duet from “I Vespri siciliani”. These broadcast recordings are among the finest recordings these two singers ever made, at a time when both of them were at the height of their careers. Thus they provide us with a taste of what must have been heard at performances of the Berlin Staatsoper in those days.
